Rise High students visited the US National Weather Service in Albany, NY (NWS)! They not only learned about what the NWS does and what meteorologists do, but they engaged in activities where they learned about the factors that affect flooding and possible property loss, structures that are built to minimize the impact of constructions in nature, and how to draw isotherms on weather maps. Thank you Mr. Raymond O’Keefee (Meteorologist in Charge at the NWS) and Christina Speciale (Meteorologist at the NWS) for welcoming us and teaching us about such important roles in our society that help keep us safe from weather events!
